We use ASSP to filter SPAM. It use very clever ways to filter the good mails from the junk mails automatically. As a program it cannot be 100% accurate all the time, but it does learn from feedback. One of the feedback methods is from you as customer.
For this ASSP has a list of e-mail address that you can use to control spam.
- Each command is sent as an email.
- It is important that the e-mail must be sent from a local or authenticated mail user on the server.
Summary of commands:
- assp-blockreport: request to get a report about blocked emails for your account.
- assp-help: request for help.
- assp-spam: report Spam that got through.
- assp-notspam: good mail that was mistakenly listed as spam.
- assp-white: add addresses to the whitelist which should not be marked as SPAM.
- assp-notwhite: remove addresses from the whitelist.
- assp-analyze: request for analyzing a mail.
- assp-persblack: Add a personal BlackListed address
How to report spam: assp-spam@
- To report a mail as spam select it and "Forward as Attachment" (CTRL-ALT-F in Outlook) to assp-spam@innernethosting.com.
- Do not simply forward the e-mail as that will strip the headers which is needed.
How to whitelist addresses: assp-white@
- To whitelist an e-mail address send a mail to assp-white@innernethosting.com and in the body of the e-mail put the e-mail address you want to whitelist.
- Whole domains can be whitelisted by using a wildcard (*) in the user part of the domain: *@thedomain
How to receive a report on blocked mail: assp-blockreport@
- If you want to receive a report on all blocked e-mails then for your account, send a mail to assp-blockreport@innernethosting.com. In the subject you can say how many days the report should be for, e.g. make the subject "5" for the past 5 days.
How to remove addresses from the whitelist: assp-notwhite@
- If you want to remove an e-mail address from the whitelist send a mail to assp-notwhite@innernethosting.com with the e-mail address you want tot remove in the body of the message.
- Again you can remove whole domains by using a wildcard in the user part of the domain: *@thedomain
How to report good mail blocked as spam: assp-notspam@
- If ever you find good mail that is not spam in the spambox you can report it as not spam by forwarding as an attachment to assp-notspam@innernethosting.com.
How to analyze an e-mail: assp-analyze@
- If you are unsure if an e-mail is spam or not you can have ASSP analyze the e-mail.
- You can do this by forwarding the mail to assp-analyze@innernethosting.com
- You will receive a mail back indicating the probability that the e-mail is spam.
How to blacklist an e-mail address: assp-persblack@
- If you receive mail from a person that you don't want, you can add that email address to your personal blacklist to block any mails from it.
- It is always best to first request the sender not to send you anymore mails, but if that fails you can use this option.
- To do this sent a mail to assp-persblack@innernethosting.com and in the body of the e-mail put the e-mail address you want to blacklist.
